Long-term rentals on Koh Tao range from rooms and studio apartments to family houses and pool villas. Rents are usually lower for 6- and 12-month contracts and in low season.

Typical terms: one or two months' deposit plus the first month in advance. Ask whether electricity is charged at the government rate or a higher landlord rate, and who pays for water, internet, garden and pool care.

Your landlord must report foreign tenants to Immigration (the TM30 notification); ask them to do it when you move in, as you'll need it for visa extensions and some paperwork like a driving licence.
